DIVING AROUND RABAC
Diverse Dive Sites Along the Istrian Coast
The coastline around Rabac and Kvarner Bay offers a wide variety of dive sites. Rocky underwater landscapes, steep walls and different depths make every dive a unique experience.
The dive site we visit on any given day depends on the weather and sea conditions, as well as the experience and interests of our guests. This allows us to plan each diving day to suit the group.
OUR DIVE SITES
From Our House Reef to Kvarner Bay
Our dive sites range from our house reef at Girandella to various locations along the coast and more distant destinations in Kvarner Bay. Each dive site has its own unique character and is selected according to the conditions and the needs of the group.

HOUSE REEF
Girandella
We reach our house reef at Girandella together by bus from the dive centre. The entry point is located at the dog beach, with direct access from the shore.
After a relatively shallow entry area, the seabed slopes down further, offering different options for dive planning. This allows us to adapt the dive to the divers’ experience and the planned diving depth.
Depth range: approx. 3–42 m
ZONE 1
Dive Sites Around Rabac
Short travel distances and a variety of dive sites make Zone 1 ideal for our regular diving trips. These include Golubjera, Babino and Babino Wall.

BOAT DIVE
Golubjera
Golubjera is located north of Rabac and is reached by boat. The dive site offers a variety of depth ranges, making it suitable for diverse diving experiences.
Particularly characteristic of this site are the numerous crevices and small caves along the rocky coastline. Further offshore, the dive leads to a reef area where the underwater landscape changes once again.
Depth range: approx. 3–27 m
BOAT DIVE
Babino
Babino features a shallower area along the coastline before the seabed drops steeply at a prominent rocky ledge. This allows the dive to be adapted to the divers’ experience and the planned diving depth.
The steep rock wall is the defining feature of this dive site. Diving along the wall offers opportunities to explore different depths, while the shallower area provides a relaxed start and finish to the dive.
Depth range: approx. 5–36 m

BOAT DIVE
Babino Wall
Babino Wall is characterised by an impressive vertical wall that drops steeply from the shallower area into deeper water. The dive follows the wall at various depths.
Ledges, crevices and a variety of rock formations along the wall make for an interesting and varied dive. Depending on the divers’ experience, the diving depth can be individually adapted to the group.
Depth range: approx. 6–36 m
ZONE 2
Further Along the Istrian Coast
In Zone 2, our boat trips take us to more distant dive sites along the Istrian coast. Here you can discover a variety of rock formations, steep walls and, with the Vis, a particularly special wreck diving destination.

BOAT DIVE
Plomin
Plomin features a varied rocky underwater landscape with several ledges, crevices and different depth ranges. This allows the dive to be adapted to the chosen route and the experience of the group.
Starting in the shallower area, the dive follows the rock formations into deeper water. Various edges and structures shape the underwater terrain and offer different routes through the dive site.
Depth range: approx. 6–35 m
BOAT DIVE
Stijena
Stijena begins in a shallower area and leads to distinctive rock formations that then drop steeply into deeper water. This gives divers several options for planning their route and diving depth.
Along the rock walls, ledges, overhangs and different depth ranges alternate. Depending on the chosen route, the dive can follow either the mid-depth sections or the deeper wall.
Depth range: approx. 2–38 m

TECHNICAL WRECK DIVE
Vis Wreck
The Vis lies very close to the Stijena dive site and is one of our more demanding dive destinations. The wreck begins at a depth of around 40 metres and extends down to approximately 58 metres.
Due to its depth, the Vis is not a regular recreational dive site. Dives on this wreck are planned exclusively for suitably trained and experienced technical divers, taking their qualifications and the prevailing conditions into account.
Depth range: approx. 40–58 m
BOAT DIVE
Duga Luka
Duga Luka offers a varied underwater landscape with several rocky ledges, crevices and different depth ranges. Divers can follow these formations along a number of different routes.
At intermediate depths, smaller ledges and rock formations create an interesting and varied dive. Further out, the seabed drops away more steeply, allowing the dive plan to be adapted to the experience of the group.
Depth range: approx. 10–35 m

BOAT DIVE
Jadrina – Nikolai’s Grotto
Jadrina offers a varied dive site with a shallow area close to the coast and striking rock formations that gradually descend into deeper water. This allows dives to be planned at different depth levels.
The highlight of this dive site is Nikolai’s Grotto, a cave located at a depth of approximately 20 to 25 metres. It makes Jadrina a particularly interesting dive site and is one of the highlights of the dive.
Depth range: approx. 3–30 m
BOAT DIVE
Barbakonac – The Natural Arch
The absolute highlight of this dive site is the large natural rock arch, located at a depth of approximately 30 to 36 metres. Divers can swim through this impressive underwater formation.
After passing through the arch, the dive continues along a beautifully covered wall. Here you can find golden sponges, yellow gorgonians and various anemones, giving this part of the dive site its distinctive character.
Depth range: approx. 7–42 m

ZONE 3
Special Dive Sites Along the Kvarner Coast
Zone 3 takes us to more distant dive sites along the Kvarner coast. Here, varied rocky landscapes and remarkable underwater formations meet one of the best-known wreck destinations on our dive trips: the Lina off the island of Cres.

WRECK DIVE
Wreck Lina
The Lina sank on 14 January 1914 after running aground off the coast of the island of Cres during a snowstorm. Today, the wreck rests at an angle on a slope, extending from approximately 25 to 55 metres in depth.
Almost half of the wreck lies within recreational diving depths and can be explored by suitably qualified divers. Anyone wishing to dive the entire length of the Lina needs the appropriate training and experience for technical diving.
Another special feature is the dive route itself. After exploring the Lina, we do not simply ascend along the descent line. Instead, the dive can continue into a sheltered bay, where we can discover a swim-through as well as a smaller and a larger cave in shallow water at around 2 to 5 metres, providing a relaxing end to the dive.
Depth range: approx. 25–55 m at the wreck · approx. 2–10 m in the bay
BOAT DIVE
Brseč – The Red Gorgonian Garden
Brseč offers a varied rocky underwater landscape with steep walls, ledges and different depth levels. The dive site extends from shallow water down to approximately 45 metres.
The absolute highlight is the large red gorgonian garden, which begins at a depth of approximately 30 metres and extends down to around 45 metres. Brseč is the only one of our dive sites in this area where we can find a red gorgonian garden of this size.
Depth range: approx. 7–45 m
Gorgonian garden: approx. 30–45 m

BOAT DIVE
Key Hole
At Key Hole, the name says it all. The distinctive keyhole-shaped opening in the rock wall is the unmistakable landmark of this dive site. Just behind it, at a depth of only 3 to 6 metres, lies a cave system that gives the shallow area its unique character.
Beyond the Key Hole, the dive site changes dramatically. An impressive steep wall descends into deeper water, reaching depths of more than 40 metres. This makes Key Hole a fascinating combination of an extraordinary shallow area and a varied wall dive.
Depth range: approx. 3 m to over 40 m
Key Hole & cave system: approx. 3–6 m
BOAT DIVE
Crna Punta
Crna Punta offers a varied rocky underwater landscape with steep walls and two remarkable highlights. At a depth of approximately 23 to 25 metres, there is a large cave with a distinctive shape resembling a figure eight. Inside, it opens into an impressive dome-shaped chamber.
The second highlight is the canyon, which extends from a depth of approximately 25 metres almost to the surface. Its walls are beautifully covered with corals, golden sponges and yellow gorgonians, making this one of the most memorable sections of the dive.
Depth range: approx. 3–40 m
Cave: approx. 23–25 m
Canyon: approx. 25 m to almost the surface
